Display Types
Every library in which I have ever been has an abundance of available space to promote programming, books, and people. It might be a whole wall, a bulletin board, a very small display case, or a very large book truck. There might be some left over space at the end of a section of a particular genre. What IS important is that you use, use, use what is available to you. Here are a variety of display options:
Other Options
Do you have some room in the entrance to your library for an easel? This provides a simple, low-cost method for presenting posters about upcoming events or maybe a thank you to your patrons for their support. Posters are low cost to make and with access to word processing programs and a color printer (or even black and white) they are quick and easy to produce. A colorful poster in the lobby at a general eye level will provide instant advertising. Empty wall space can highlight movie posters, children's art prints, etc. The lobby is a good place to have a temporary table display about your library. Our branch is a polling place and people have to pass this table on the way to vote.I believe that if you have an empty space, you have a place to share an idea. See the gallery for examples.
